Dad took us to dinner after skiing.  We went to this new pizza place in Orem called Pizzeria 712.  I didn’t have high hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised.  It has a nice interior, staff that know what they are doing, and a small, but great menu.  We ordered lots of things and shared them, and I broke my rules because I wanted to try things.  It was the best restaurant in Utah County, as far as I’m concerned.  I told my wife that “Utah County isn’t a culinary wasteland any more”.

  • Shortrib/polenta/horseradish (awesome – worthy of any restaurant in SLC)
  • Beet, ricotta salad
  • Sweet potato, apple, pecan appetizer
  • Pizza (a slice of three kinds – all with a little meat – all delicious)

I walked the usual route when I got home.  It was a good day.  Good skiing, good food, etc.

Week 8 Summary

Not a super week this week.  The holidays are taking their toll on my goals, unfortunately.  Out of convenience while shopping, and from laziness and mistakes with my salad order, I ended up eating chicken twice (although not a ton of it in my salad), and I only walked 3 times (does skiing count? J).

The scorecard this week:

Meat: 1

Poultry: 2

Walking: 3

The good news is that my blood pressure at one of those grocery store kiosks was lower than I can ever remember: 101/69.
